Product description
Ingredients

The leather Basic strop from Herold®, originating from the German knife city of Solingen, is a handy tool for honing, sharpening, and polishing authentic straight razors, ideal for use before shaving.

This shaving strap in size M has a total length of 46 cm, including the loops, and a strap length of 30 cm, with an effective leather surface of 30 x 4.5 cm. Made of cowhide leather, this basic shaving strap has a synthetic canvas back.

For optimal maintenance, the leather part should be regularly treated with yellow strop paste, which promotes flexibility and water resistance. It is also advisable to treat the canvas side annually with white strop paste to prevent the canvas from burning due to the repeated quick movements of the razor. This action has already been performed by the manufacturer during production.

The belt can also be used with a small amount of polishing paste, but it is advisable to use a tension strap for this polishing action.

Herold has been the specialist in high-quality strops, tension belts, and accompanying pastes for many years.

Advice/Use
For shaving, you align and polish the razor on the strop, so that all metal particles are facing the right direction again. This improves effectiveness and shaving comfort. Follow these steps: hang the strop on a sturdy hook or doorknob, pull the bottom of the strop towards you and maintain enough tension on the strop so that it bends slightly. Place the blade flat on the underside of the strop with the back of the blade facing up. Now move the blade gently upwards without applying pressure, turn it over the back when you reach the top, and move back down again.

Always leave some leather unused at the ends of the strap so that the knife does not get damaged. Repeat this motion about 20 times.
